linkedin-logoThis is ALWAYS a pain in the neck. I don’t do this that often and I never remember what particular place to look. Here it is so I don’t have to search anymore!

Your public profile appears when people search for you using a public search engine like Google, Yahoo!, Bing, etc. You can edit your public profile from the Edit Profile page.

And THERE is where you can find the profile URL/ID for LinkedIn for usage in social icons and all that – look down at the bottom of the widget area with your name and position – right below “Done Editing” button.

Other LinkedIn Profile stuff…

To hide your public profile:

  1. Move your cursor over Profile at the top of your homepage and select Edit Profile.
  2. Click the Edit link next to your public profile URL in the top section of your profile.
  3. Click the button next to “Make my public profile visible to no one” on the right. Your LinkedIn profile won’t appear in search engines and won’t be visible to non-LinkedIn members.

Note: If you disable your public profile, it may take several weeks for it to be removed from search engine results.

To show your public profile or change which sections display:

  1. Move your cursor over Profile at the top of your homepage and select Edit Profile.
  2. Click the Edit link next to your public profile URL in the top section of your profile.
  3. Click the button next to “Make My Public Profile Visible to Everyone”. Your basic information displays by default.
  4. Check or uncheck the boxes to select which additional sections you’d like to display.

You can also customize your public profile URL.
